"All moral systems that claim to be secular have finger prints of religion and God all over them. There is NO SUCH THING as a secular moral system because truly secular systems can function only on reason. Reason alone cannot lead to good because reason can be reasoning toward evil, or reasoning toward good. There is no secular system to tell us about “ought” or “virtue”."
Incredible writing. Thank you. I’ve heard most of these arguments in separate pieces and as part of a meta system but you lay it all out so clearly and in sequence. Well done. An immediate save.
Can we look for what is right? It seems to me that individuals can have different perceptions of what is good, but we can pin down what is right.
My dad used to call it the universal can-opener. Whose property is it? One's actions should not interfere with another's life and what is produced with it. He used the word "valid" to describe what works in the world. It has been my experience that applying the universal can-opener satisfy both validity and morality.
I do very much enjoy and value your work Ms. Lillywhite. Maybe someday you can talk about the titles Miss, Mrs. And Ms. I come from a past time and don't understand Ms.
As a side note, "black pill" is the activated charcoal needed after one is drunk on power and delusions of grandeur. It however will stop oneself from absorbing nutrients. Via negativa.
This is great evergreen content. Highly underrated post.

There are two major criticisms of blind Lindy usage:
1. Ideas are alive, and that it can end a person whilst propagating successfully. Seeking big ideas that can be domesticated, not the other way around, would be more apt. Most "maxxing" and "self-improvement" advice however are toxic countersignals in the form of platitudes and nativity, often with a price tag attached. https://bewrong.substack.com/p/what-do-ideas-want https://robkhenderson.substack.com/p/the-perils-of-imitating-high-status
2. What is truly Lindy is not necessarily heroic or virtuous, and can often be toxic ambition. If it sounds too aesthetic, it is often false and at time contextually true for particular roles of power. https://swellandcut.com/2018/11/18/the-problem-with-lindy/ https://archive.ph/zXLFa
